This fenced area of Bárna-Vad Ltd lies on the Hungarian-Slovakian borders nearthe town of Salgótarján, at the foot of the Mátra Mountains. It is a typical hilly area and is largely covered in deciduous forest. The countryside is varied and dissected by valleys and ravines. A stream rising within the area ensures a permanent water supply.
All five Hungarian big game species live in this area, so that it is possible to huntred deer, fallow deer, roe deer, wild boars and moufflon. The origin of the red deer and the fallow deer is the region Dunántúl (Trans-Danubia), from the areas of Gemenc, Zala, Somogy and Tolna. Many of the trophies receive gold medals. The heaviest red stag antlers in the 2006 hunting season weighed 12.25 kg.
Wild boars are usually shot on drive hunts, but there is also a possibility to hunt large boars on a single hunt.
