Balaton-felvidék (Balaton uplands)

The landscape on the north banks of Lake Balaton is determined by the South Bakony and the Keszthely mountains which is characteristic of the vulcanic mountains in the Tapolca Basin. Due to the vicinity of the mountains and the lake the area has a mediterranean micro-climate. Because of this the mountain slopes are covered with oak and pine tree forests and on the lower slopes one can find vinyards and orchards. On the farmland corn and maize are cultivated.

The main game animals to be found in these hunting areas are red deer and wild boar. The roe deer population is not important, in the forests the roe deer have antlers of poor to average quality. Occasionally, fallow deer can be found in the woods. On the higher slopes where there is some grass on the solid rock moufflon lives, although their existence is not of importance. Pheasant live in the pastures and meadows of the lower parts, as well as on the cultivated land and in the vinyards.
The red deer population, which is the most important game animal, can be divided into two types. Most of the red deer have the characteristic features of the upland deer. The trophy weight of stags shot in rutting is 5-8 kg. Mostly during rutting, but in some parts of the area all year round, one can find the red deer of Zala which have excellent genetic qualities, so it is not seldom that a big stag with antlers weighing over 10 kg can be shot in September.
Most wild boars are hunted from raised hides and can be combined with a roebuck hunt. Every year each division of the hunting areas organize drive hunts.

This hunting area of 4,450 ha lies 10 km from lake Balaton on the Balaton uplands. This area has a very varied landscape and has 35% woodland. The young trees and good water supply offers red deer and wild boars an ideal habitat.
The agricultural lands are mainly used for maize, corn and grapes. In the hunting area are several feeding places, where silage, maize and corn are cultivated for the game the whole year round.
The red deer trophies are mediocre, stags with antlers of 5-9 kg are the norm. However, each year during rutting larger stags can be found: the biggest trophies in the last 5-6 years weighed 11-12 kg. The roe deer do not have big antlers, the average weight is 200-300 g. As the area has a good wild boar population, a combined hunt roe deer with wild boar is very popular.
There is a protected area of several hundred hectares in the forest. This area is reserved for hunting guests. The members of the company are not allowed, to hunt here and in other forested areas between 31st January and 1st October.

Most hunting is done from raised hides as well as some stalking.

This area lies in the lower regions of the south Bakony Mountains, 20 km north of Lake Balaton. This hilly region has 85% forest, with meadows and fields planted for the game between the woods. In this favourable habitat there is a very good population of both red deer and wild boar, but there are also a few moufflon, fallow deer and roe deer. Thanks to the conscientious game management more than 500 big game animals are shot each year.
The trophies of the red deer found in this area are of a good size with many tines, but are not heavy with 6-8 kg. The biotope is not favourable for roe deer, so that an antler weight of 200-300 g is normal. The horns of the moufflon rams are normally 70-80 cm long. The many wild boars can be hunted on single hunts as well as drive hunts.
Hares and pheasants can be hunted on a small scale on the fields and meadows. In March hunters can shoot woodcock during their mating flights.
